Summary of Position

The Bioprocess Associate II is responsible for all aspects of purification process development including process characterization and process transfer to the manufacturing group. In addition, the incumbent in this role will interact with other development functional leads to further process knowledge and resolve technical challenges.

 

Responsibilities and Job Duties:

  • Develop scalable purification processes for clinical phase biotechnology products
  • Execute bench scale experiments using depth filtration, column chromatography and UF/DF apparatus
  • Support technology transfer to manufacturing as needed
  • Perform analytical analysis such CE-SDS, SE-HPLC, CE-HPLC and SDS-PAGE
  • Identify and resolve difficult technical challenges within process development
  • Willingness to perform a significant amount of “hands on” laboratory work with high energy
  • Research ways to overcome challenges in the purification process
  • Timely and accurate documentation of work practices and processes

Qualifications

Education, Credentials and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, biology or related scientific discipline with a minimum of two years of related experience

OR

  • Master’s degree in biochemistry, biology, or related scientific discipline. No experience required. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Downstream purification experience with hands on use of AKTA instrumentation, UFDF apparatus, HPLC instrumentation and other commonly used purification tools
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and purification processes as needed 
  • Ability to resolve complex problems within a fast paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in addition to strong organizational skills
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Experience with process transfer from the development phase into manufacturing
