Summary of Position

The Research Associate II will be part of a cell biology and immunology group focused on characterizing novel antibody-based therapies for the treatment of cancer and autoimmune disease. In this position you will be responsible for evaluating biological responses to candidate therapeutic molecules in a range of cell-based and immune-based assays.

 

Responsibilities and Job Duties:

  • Performs in vitro cell-based assays including primary cell assays and reporter assays to understand molecular structure/cell function relationships and to guide therapeutic molecule selection.
  • Maintains mammalian cell lines, ensuring necessary quality to support assay needs.
  • Isolates variety of cell types from human PBMC (T cell subpopulations, myeloid cells, B-cells etc) and employs in functional cell based assays.
  • Performs FACS analysis to investigate molecules’ binding properties and biological responses in different cell populations and reports results to supervisor. 
  • May create and develop new methods and technologies for project advancement.
  • Maintains written records of laboratory experiments, data, and conclusions. 

Qualifications

Education, Credentials & Experience

 

Bachelor’s Degree in scientific discipline with a minimum of two years of related experience or a Master’s Degree in a scientific discipline

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven working knowledge of basic cell biology techniques
  • General mammalian tissue culture
  • Experience with isolation of immune cells and executing cell-based assays including flow cytometry
  • Ability to work independently and be able to problem solve
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively with coworkers
  • Ability to communicate results effectively both written and orally
  • Capability in data analysis and data presentation are expected. 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other members of a team

Supervisory Responsibilities
None

 

Preferred Qualification:
Experience characterizing monoclonal antibodies including effector-function assays
