Summary of Position

The position will be in the protein chemistry laboratory. Their role will be performing routine protein purification of antibodies and developing and refining experimental approaches used as platform methods to assist the protein purification scientists.


Responsibilities and Job Duties

  • Assist in the development of an HPLC method using protein A to measure expression titers for Fc containing DARTs and antigens expressed in transient, stable pools, and transfectants. This will offer timely guidance to the protein purification personnel on expected purification yields.
  • Perform routine protein purification of antibodies.
  • Perform routine protein analytical work, including 280nm absorbance measurements, SEC-HPLC, SDS PAGE, and endotoxin assays. Will review data with supervisor for determining the next steps.
  • Assist in preparing protein aliquots to distribute to all research functions
  • Prepare solutions for his/her experiments.


Minimum Qualifications


Education, Certifications & Experience

  • Must be a junior or senior in college studying chemistry, biology or biochemistry.
  • Must have prior college coursework and laboratory courses in chemistry and biology

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Eager to learn, works well with people, understanding of basic chemistry and mathematics, and basic computer skills including MS Office programs


Preferred Qualifications

  • College courses and/or laboratory courses in biochemistry

**This is a paid internship program for the summer of 2018. This position is not eligible for housing or travel reimbursement and is not open for immigration sponsorship.**
