Summary of Position

The Research Associate II/Associate Scientist I will be part of the Antibody Engineering Group focused on generating novel antibody-based therapies for the treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases. Candidates in this position will be responsible for performing hybridoma fusions, screening culture supernatants, subcloning and maintaining hybridoma cell lines, antibody purification, and cloning of V genes from hybridomas.


Responsibilities and Job Duties:

  • Schedule immunizations, prepare antigens, evaluate serum titers, and performs fusions
  • Screen and characterize antibodies for binding and functional activity (ELISA, FACS, biochemical and cell-based assays) 
  • Maintain, expand, cryopreserve, and clone hybridoma cell lines
  • Perform small scale antibody expression and purification of antibodies
  • Assist with molecular biology related tasks including cloning of V genes and generation of antibody expression plasmids
  • Maintain written records of laboratory experiments, data, and conclusions in compliance with all laboratory procedures

 

 

 

Qualifications

Education, Credentials & Experience

 

Research Associate II:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in scientific discipline with a minimum of two years of related experience or a Master’s Degree in a scientific discipline

Associate Scientist I:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in scientific discipline with a minimum of five years of related experience or a Master’s Degree in a scientific discipline with a minimum of two years of related experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive experience in mammalian cell culture
  • Ability to maintain timely, detailed and accurate records of lab activities and follow lab protocols and procedures
  • Possess strong communication and organization skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently and be able to problem solve
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively with coworkers
  • Ability to analyze data and communicate results effectively both written and orally

Supervisory Responsibilities
None

 

Preferred Qualification:

  • Experience in screening assays such as ELISA or FACS
  • Previous experience in hybridoma generation and molecular biology techniques preferred
