Summary of Position

The Production Planner I/II is responsible for supporting MacroGenics’ internal manufacturing by assisting with production scheduling, materials requirements planning and procurement of materials. This role will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure production is on schedule to meet clinical pipeline objectives.


Responsibilities and Job Duties

  • Assists with scheduling internal manufacturing activities and coordinates with Manufacturing to ensure the availability of materials for production use by reviewing production schedules, material requirements and material disposition priorities.
  • Creates and maintains master data in SAP, including material masters and bills of material to support production in MacroGenics’ GMP manufacturing facilities.
  • Ensure proper raw material inventory levels are maintained to meet production plans and inventory requirements by collaborating with Materials Management. 
  • Proactively monitors the status of open purchase orders for GMP materials including delivery schedules and quality issues that may affect material availability. Provides consistent and transparent feedback to stakeholders on material availability through creation of inventory reports. Participates in collaboration with Manufacturing, Materials Management, Quality and Procurement and external suppliers to proactively anticipate and identify material availability risks and develop action and resolution plans.
  • Analyzes and consolidates production planning data to track and analyze relevant performance metrics. Makes recommendations for improvements and implements approved ideas. 
  • Coordinates and executes day to day activities with minimal supervision; obtains management guidance for issues, strategic or complex topics.



BA/BS in a relevant technical or scientific discipline



Production Planner I – no experience required


Production Planer II – 2 years of experience in the biotech/pharma industry including supply chain/materials or production planning experience utilizing SAP or another ERP system


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced and process manufacturing environment with shifting priorities
  • Excellent computer skills (including advanced MS Excel skills) and technology skills to understand development and manufacturing operations and machines
  • Ability to quickly learn complex software (such as SAP)
  • Strong math and data analysis skills to review inventory stock levels and anticipate total demands and priority for manufacturing use
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Well organized and capable of concurrently and effectively handling multiple projects and priorities
  • Strong collaborative skills, ability to develop working relationships with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to proactively identify problems and concerns and drive to resolution

Preferred Qualifications

  • Continuing education or training in Six Sigma/ Lean / Operational Excellence principles
  • Basic understanding of GMP procedures and concepts
  • Understanding of interdependencies of supply chain, technical and business objectives
