    Summary of Position

    The Business Development Director/Senior Director will provide expertise and leadership in the identification, evaluation and execution of business development transactions that provide significant value creation for the company.  The Director/Senior Director will have responsibility for preparing and delivering company presentations and will coordinate cross-functional teams comprising representatives from research, clinical, commercial, manufacturing, legal, and finance. He/she will collaborate closely with senior management to ensure that the business development activities align closely with overall corporate strategy.

     

    Responsibilities and Job Duties:

    • Develop and implement partnering strategies for MacroGenics’ product candidates and platform technologies, including: defining target partners, leading outreach efforts, crafting negotiation strategy, structuring term sheets, negotiating contracts, and supporting future alliance management efforts.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and advisors and lead cross-functional teams to successfully complete transactions that will drive significant value creation for the company and its shareholders.
    • Develop business development communication materials and effectively present corporate overview and programmatic details to prospective collaborators
    • Develop strategic, financial, and data-based recommendations regarding in-licensing and out-licensing opportunities and present findings to key internal stakeholders.
    • Oversee existing alliances and participate in related governance committees to maintain partner relationships and ensure proper fulfillment of licensee and licensor obligations
    • Maintain in-depth understanding of competitive landscape for immune-oncology products and platforms, as well as key regulatory, legal and product development issues that will impact MacroGenics’ portfolio
    • Establish and maintain a broad network of relationships with potential licensors worldwide; liaise with other business development professionals and participate in industry partnering and scientific conferences.

    Qualifications

    Education & Credentials

    • Bachelor degree in a relevant field of study.

     

    Experience

    Director:

    • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a biotech, pharma or healthcare consulting company
    • At least 5 years of experience in biotech or pharma environment negotiating and closing technology and product licensing deals
    • Prior experience leading and influencing teams towards critical timelines and goals

     

     Senior Director:

    • Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in a biotech, pharma or healthcare consulting company
    • At least 6 years of experience in biotech or pharma environment negotiating and closing technology and product licensing deals
    • Prior experience leading and influencing teams towards critical timelines and goals

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to influence decisions based on providing well-reasoned recommendations
    • Successful track record in negotiating, structuring and closing complex deals
    • Strong understanding of the drug development process, and familiarity with antibody-based therapeutics
    • Possess established network of industry contacts
    • Knowledge of deal structures and trends related to pharmaceutical business development
    • Results-oriented self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects and consistently deliver high quality work
    • Must have a "roll-up their sleeves" work style and understand both tactical and strategic requirements
    • Ability to travel both in US and internationally

    Preferred Qualifications

    • MBA
    • Graduate degree in science
    • Experience in Oncology or Immunology
