    Summary of Position

    The Materials Handler II/III is responsible for performing tasks that support the GMP warehouse operations for Manufacturing and Quality. He/she is responsible for physical and administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing and distributing of materials, including GMP raw materials, finished products and other supplies/equipment as required.


    Responsibilities and Job Duties

    • Receive, inspect and disposition materials to ensure compliance with all company and regulatory agency policies and procedures. 
    • Ensure accurate inventory control of all controlled materials and is responsible for the execution of required physical cycle counts and annual inventory reconciliation in accordance with SOPs, cGXP, FDA and other applicable regulations.
    • Ensure execution of material flow and work practices in accordance with SOPs, cGXP, FDA, OSHA, IATA, DOT, TSA and other applicable regulations. 
    • Communicate with vendors and production planning for scheduling receipts.
    • Coordinate with Quality to ensure sampling and release of materials for cGMP manufacturing use.
    • Work in partnership with Quality, Manufacturing, and Finance to resolve quality and supply chain issues associated with incoming GMP raw materials and process consumables.
    • Support investigations related to materials management issues and implement corrective and preventative action plans to address deficient areas identified and to ensure adherence to compliance. 
    • Operate warehouse equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks in a safe manner compliant with OSHA standards.
    • Additional responsibilities to support warehouse operations as designated by management.


    Education, Certifications and Experience

    Materials Handler II

    • High school diploma or equivalent and minimum 2 years comparable experience within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry
    • Valid Driver’s License

    Materials Handler III

    • High school diploma or equivalent and minimum 4 years comparable experience within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry; or
    • Associate’s degree and minimum 2 years of comparable experience within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry
    • Valid Driver’s License


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Ability to follow instructions and established procedures
    • Ability to be flexible on work schedule to support warehouse and manufacturing operations
    • Ability to regularly perform lifting (minimum 40 pounds)
    • Good understanding of inventory management principles and practices within GMP warehouse environment
    • Strong documentation and math skills
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Exceptional attention to detail, as well as organizational skills
    • Strong team player; committed to quality


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Forklift certification
    • IATA Dangerous Goods training and certification
    • Experience with SAP or similar ERP system
