    Summary of Position

    The Associate Director/Director, Supply Chain provides leadership through strategic and operational oversight of MacroGenics’ internal supply chain activities including master production schedules for manufacturing, planning and reporting demand and supply requirements, supporting scenario planning and GMP materials, inventory and supplier management.  The Associate Director/Director will collaborate with key MacroGenics stakeholders including Manufacturing, Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Finance to deliver product supply for MacroGenics’ portfolio.  Success in the role is measured by the ability to ensure clinical supply of MacroGenics’ products through effective collaboration, attention to quality, on-time delivery and continuous improvement.


    Responsibilities and Job Duties:

    • Leads the Production Planning team to manage operations planning and production schedules for internal manufacturing activities, materials forecasting and supply strategies and ensures alignment with the cross-portfolio CMC timeline.
    • Oversees Materials Management to ensure accuracy in inventory and performance against receipt and distribution metrics.
    • Responsible for capacity planning in line with changing demand and investigates capacity against mid and long term forecast to identify key constraints and opportunities.
    • Proactively anticipates and identifies supply chain risks and develops action and resolution plans. Establishes and maintains effective communication channels to provide accurate information and communicates critical issues, gaps and constraints to management and production teams. Partners with the technical and quality teams to create and manage risk mitigation plans or corrective action plans for supplier performance or quality issues and ensures timely and appropriate escalation of supplier issues
    • Recommends plans and strategies for continuous improvement in operations and procedures to meet both short and long-term needs and to resolve problems. Develops and implement practices to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of strategic initiatives in production planning and materials management. Leverages existing and implements new systems and processes to improve end to end supply chain efficiencies.
    • Assists in managing the materials budget and ensure the department adheres to the approved budget. Assists in developing COGm estimates.
    • Responsible for accurate management of materials related information in ERP and spreadsheets, including ERP master data. Prepares reports and dashboards to monitor supply chain performance against metrics and KPIs.
    • Oversees, either directly or indirectly, change controls, investigations, and deviations and partners with stakeholders to manage on time release of batches, resolve deviations, and implement CAPA’s.
    • Ensures the creation, implementation and compliance of production planning and materials management procedures and policies and maintains appropriate training curricula.
    • Oversees and leads supplier governance activities for MacroGenics, coordinates executive oversight meetings and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, manages supplier issues that may effect on-time and cost-effective supply of materials and product, and negotiates and manages supplier agreements.
    • Creates a high-performing team that emphasizes strengths-based execution, accountability, open communication, people development and continuous improvement. Recruits, motivates, retains and develops key employees. Builds and sustains employee engagement by creating an environment where individuals and teams can excel. Establishes departmental and individual goals and objectives in alignment with corporate goals and priorities. Identifies performance improvement targets and metrics.
    • Effectively and transparently manages multiple, at times conflicting priorities, and proactively seeks creative yet viable solutions to resolve such conflicts.
    • Additional responsibilities to support supply chain activities may be necessary as designated by management.



    Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations management, engineering or relevant technical discipline



    Associate Director

    • 9 years’ experience in biopharma/pharma industry, including 7 years direct experience in supply chain, operations or GMP manufacturing
    • 5 years of direct people management experience, including coaching and developing a team and providing motivation to accomplish goals and objectives


    • 10 years’ experience in biopharma/pharma industry, including 8 years direct experience in supply chain, operations or GMP manufacturing
    • 5 years of direct people management experience, including coaching and developing a team and providing motivation to accomplish goals and objectives

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • In depth knowledge of supply chain operations in a cGMP setting
    • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking and solutions orientation skills 
    • Well-organized with ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong leadership skills including leading projects with broad scope and impact outside own department and ability to drive results through team leadership
    • Strong collaboration skills, ability to develop working relationships with colleagues at all levels of the organization and lead by influence. Proven track record of successfully working in interdisciplinary teams.
    • Solid understanding of GMP and relevant ICH and FDA guidelines
    • Cold chain knowledge and experience in a pharmaceutical setting 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills are required.
    • Prior direct supervisory experience, including coaching and staff development

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    Manages team of 8+ production planning and materials management staff and contractors


    Preferred Qualifications

    • MS or MBA
    • APICS, Six Sigma and/or Project Management certification
    • Advanced knowledge of SAP
