    Summary of Position

    The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a field-based extension of the MacroGenics Oncology Medical Affairs group and will represent MacroGenics in support of its potential launch of Margetuximab. The MSL will also support MacroGenics’ pipeline of 8 other clinical stage immuno-oncology compounds.

    The MSL will build long term peer-to-peer relationships with thought leaders and other stakeholders within the medical oncology community to deliver clinical, scientific, and technical education about our products. The MSL is responsible for developing, coordinating and assuring implementation of MacroGenics’ corporate, scientific, and clinical strategies with these thought leaders within academic, clinical, and healthcare organizations. These scientific exchanges will support and/or expand current therapeutic concepts, as well as ensure the safe and effective utilization of MacroGenics’ product(s).

    Additionally, the MSL will support the Company’s research initiatives and investigator-sponsored studies and participate in and contribute to projects and initiatives that increase the value and productivity of the Medical Affairs team.

    Responsibilities and Job Duties

    • Establish MacroGenics within the oncology community as a leading company committed to developing the next generation of immune-oncology products by providing ongoing outreach and education to the community.
    • Engage healthcare practitioners in appropriate activities (e.g. disease state education)
    • Regularly collects and interprets medical insights and intelligence gathered from scientific exchange with thought leaders and communicates relevant information to internal stakeholders in order to define, update, and support medical strategies.
    • Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with external experts vital to product development
    • Participate in and contribute to projects and initiatives that increase the value and productivity of Medical Affairs (e.g. develop clinical content such as slides, training materials, standard responses or field medical materials).
    • Adhere to corporate SOPs and ensures vigilant compliance with relevant legal and regulatory guidelines governing scientific interactions with physicians and healthcare professionals across all activities, including those related to clinical trials, scientific interactions with internal and external groups, and responses to unsolicited requests for medical/scientific information.
    • Enhance scientific knowledge of external stakeholders through education and appropriate scientific exchange (clinical presentations at office visits, medical meetings, and other venues as needed).
    • Attend appropriate scientific meetings and remain current of new and emerging scientific information and treatment options in relevant therapeutic areas/tumor types.
    • Collaborate across functions to ensure achievement of key goals
    • Be solidly versed in the clinical data such that the full range of innovative science, clinical, outcome, economic and value aspects of the Company’s products can be appreciated by the healthcare practitioner, formulary member or Payer.
    • Provide medical support, clinical input, and/or training to internal teams as requested.
    • Collaborate with R&D team to support sites and investigators participating in the Company-sponsored clinical trials (e.g. identify accrual challenges, educate study staff).

    Qualifications

    Education & Other Credentials

    Advanced clinical/science degree: PharmD, PhD, DO or MD, PA or NP

    Experience

    Minimum of 3 years combined clinical or Medical Affairs (solid tumor/oncology preferred) and/or MSL experience required with a positive track record of success.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Strong interpersonal, organizational, team, written and verbal communication skills
    • Well-versed in highly technical and scientific languages in order to communicate with key Thought Leaders, Medical Affairs, Research and Development, as well as other key internal and external stakeholders.
    • Firm understanding of the key phases, processes, and techniques that are involved in both the pre-clinical and clinical aspects of drug development.
    • Proven track record of teamwork, leadership, timely decision making and results orientation in meeting objectives.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
    • Willingness to travel (up to 75%, approximately 8-10 overnights per month) within the territory
    • Potential occasional travel outside territory for training, conferences, etc.
    • Must live in close proximity to a major airport
    • Valid driver’s license
