    Summary of Position

    The Manager/Sr. Manager of Facilities is responsible for managing facilities operations & maintenance at MacroGenics’ Maryland Facilities. The Manager will ensure execution of a safe, compliant, effective, efficient, and cost appropriate operations & maintenance programs. The responsibilities include running the day to day operations of the facilities department, overseeing and support of projects and long-term implementation of equipment lifecycles. This individual will work closely with a cross functional team to meet the needs of the groups they support.

     

    Responsibilities and Job Duties:

    • Provide leadership, technical expertise and best practices to the facilities department supporting manufacturing and laboratory operations
    • Ensure 24/7 support to troubleshoot, identify, and resolve equipment and Facility issues.
    • Ensure activities are accomplished in a safe and compliant manner to meet all quality standards for cGMP, other applicable regulatory agencies and are within the company processes and guidelines.
    • Manage, motivate, and mentor the staff to continuously improve skills and team performance. Lead by example, recognize and celebrate successes. Encourage teamwork to ensure productivity goals are met or exceeded.
    • Organize and prioritize staff and workload to meet or exceed productivity metrics. Ensure all staff are adequately trained on and act in accordance with cGMP, quality, and safety standards.
    • Work and interact effectively with cross-functional teams, including Facilities, Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing, to ensure proper functionality of instrumentation
    • Obtain proposals/quotes from vendors/contractors for work done by department. Ensure project/department milestones/goals are met and adhere to approved budgets, including contracted services.
    • Suggest and implement continuous improvement and operational excellence methods and tools to improve the overall efficiency of the facilities department.

    Qualifications

    Education, Experience & Credentials

    Manager

    • Bachelor’s in engineering, Life Sciences or related field and a minimum of 5 years of related experience leading facility teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources; or
    • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 10 years of related experience leading facility teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
    • Minimum of 3 years of direct supervisory experience

    Sr. Manager 

    • Bachelor’s in engineering, Life Sciences or related field and a minimum of 8 years of related experience leading facility teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources; or
    • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 15 years of related experience leading facility teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
    • Minimum of 5 years of direct supervisory experience

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Demonstrated interpersonal and facilitation skills and ability to work in a collaborative team-based environment.
    • Ability to apply analytical skills to evaluate and interpret complex problems using multiple sources of information.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and effectively set priorities.
    • Demonstrated skill in goal setting and driving results
    • Experience with continuous improvement through setting and monitoring of key metrics.
    • Extensive knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and gas equipment and systems.
    • Strong knowledge of maintenance management and utilities operations programs. (Blue Mountain, SAP, Maximo)
    • Must have familiarity with building management systems (Honeywell, Siemens, Metasys, Tracer)
    • Strong knowledge of industry standards and guidelines
    • Scheduling and schedule tracking experience
    • Must have effective oral and written communication skills
    • Willingness to work with a “hands-on” approach in managing the facilities department
    • Demonstrated ability to manage consultants, and contractors, while interfacing with multiple departments, working with internal customers to manage projects, policy and procedures
    • Computer skills:  MS Office Suite and other company specific processes
    • Coverage of off-hours and weekend work is possible
    • Oversight of 3 locations within Rockville, Maryland
    • Travel outside of Maryland is expected to be 0-10%

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    2 to 4 direct reports

     

    Preferred Qualification

    • Maryland 3rd Class Stationary Engineers License for boiler operations
    • Understanding of cGMP and regulatory compliance
